¶ Entry of the flags & Hymn
114. Eternal Father, Strong to Save

** Churchwardens will receive the flags and place them in the stand.

Eternal Father, strong to save,
whose arm does bind
the restless wave,
Who bidst the mighty ocean deep
its own appointed limits keep;
O hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea.

O Saviour, whose almighty word
the winds and waves
submissive heard,
who walked upon the foaming deep,
and calm amid the rage didst sleep;
O hear us when we cry to Thee
for those in peril on the sea.

O Holy Spirit, who didst brood
upon the waters dark and rude,
and bid their angry tumult cease,
and give for wild confusion peace;
O hear us when we cry to Thee
for those in peril on the sea.

O Trinity of love and pow'r,
our brethren shield in danger's hour.
From rock and tempest, fire, and foe,
protect them whereso'er they go,
and ever let there rise to thee
glad hymns of praise
from land and sea.

¶ Welcome and Sorry Prayer
(Prayer of Penitence)

Seek the Lord while he may be found,
call upon him while he is near.

Let the wicked abandon their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.

Turn back to the Lord,
who will have mercy;
to our God who will richly pardon.

May almighty God have mercy on us,
forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

¶ Opening Prayer
(A Soldier's Prayer)

ALMIGHTY and Everlasting GOD,
by Whose grace Thy servants are enabled to fight the good fight of faith and ever prove victorious: We humbly beseech Thee so to inspire us, that we may yield our hearts to Thine obedience and exercise our wills on Thy behalf.
Help us to think wisely: to speak rightly to resolve bravely: to act kindly to live purely. Bless us in body and in soul, and make us a blessing to our comrades. Whether at home or abroad may we ever seek the extension of Thy Kingdom. Let the assurance of Thy presence save us from sinning: support us in life, and comfort us in death. O Lord our God accept this prayer for Jesus Christ's Sake.

Amen.

¶ Gospel Reading (Luke 20:36-28)

Hear the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, according to Luke.
Glory to you O, Lord.

** after the Gospel reading…

This is the Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you O, Christ.

¶ Poem and Homily

¶ Prayers

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

* Scouts, Guides, Rangers and Explorers Prayer

Almighty God, source of life and giver of all good things, we pray for your blessing and guidance for us Scouts, Guides, Rangers and Explorers. Help us to follow your teaching in all our activities and so give praise to you. Give us the wisdom and courage to think, speak and act with honour, kindness, and integrity. So may we receive your blessing and be a source of strength and encouragement to one another and all in the Scouting and Guiding movements throughout the world. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
Amen.

* Cubs, Brownies, Beavers and Rainbows Prayer

O God our Father, help us to love YOU most of all and others as ourselves and keep us from selfishness in all we do. Help us to make others happy, especially at home, in the Pack, the Colony and Unit. Bless us and all Cubs, Brownies, Beavers and Rainbows everywhere, for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your son, our saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

¶ Offering and Hymn

214. Holy Spirit, come, confirm us

** There will be a collection, please be generous.
** During the Peace and Offertory hymn will be sung.

Holy Spirit, come, confirm us
in the truth that Christ makes known;
we have faith and understanding
through your promised light alone.

Holy Spirit, come, console us,

come as advocate to plead;
loving Spirit from the Father,,

grant in Christ the help we need.

Holy Spirit, come, renew us,
come yourself to make us live;
holy through your loving presence,
holy through the gifts you give.

Holy Spirit, come, possess us,
you the love of Three in One;
Holy Spirit of the Father,

Holy Spirit of the Son.

¶ The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

¶ Giving of Communion

Jesus is the lamb of God
who takes away the sin of the world.
Blessed are those
who are called to his supper.

Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word, and I shall be healed.

** Giving of Communion is not
a ‘break time’ in the middle of service for us to relax and chat.

** During the communion, the flag bearers will be ready for the Act of Remembrance.

¶ Prayer after Communion

Lord God,
in this Eucharist which we have shared, you have spoken your word of life and nourished us with the mysteries of Christ’s body and blood;

bring us with all who have died in combat or through the injuries of war, to know the joys of heaven.

We ask this through Jesus Christ,

who lived and died and was raised to newness of life, to whom be glory in every age and for eternity.

Amen.

** After the Post Communion Prayer, the altar party and the flag bearers will move down to the Baptismal Font for the Act of Remembrance.

The Act of Remembrance

¶  The Exhortation

They shall grow not old
as we that are left grow old;
age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
we will remember them.
We will remember them.

 The Last Post

** 2 minutes silence.

¶ Reveille

¶ The Prayer

Let us pledge ourselves anew t
o the service of God
and our fellow men and women;
that we may help, encourage,
and comfort others,
and support those working
for the relief of the needy
and for the peace and welfare
of the nations.

Lord God our Father,
we pledge ourselves to serve you
and all mankind,
in the cause of peace,
for the relief of want and suffering,
and for the praise of your name.
Guide us by your Spirit;
give us wisdom;
give us courage;
give us hope;
and keep us faithful,
now and always.
Amen.

¶ National Anthem

God save our gracious King!
Long live our noble King!
God save the King!
Send him victorious,
happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save the King.

¶ Final Blessing & Dismissal

The Lord be with you.
And also with you.

The peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord;
and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.
Amen.

The service is ended.
Go in the peace of Christ.
Thanks be to God.
